Plug In Solar Panels

Queenslanders have a few extra problems when motorhoming. Because of all that sunshine we need shade! But as so many of us free camp that puts the knockers on solar battery charging. The simple solution is to augment your solar system by utilising a plug in external panel. There are commercial units on the market called "suitcases". You can of course easily make your own. Storage is falrly easy particularly if you use a system similar to that we used to store a table in the Freeway - see the DIY section.

Quirks Solar have a gadget they call the Solar Port - $1194.00 for a twin 30 watt. If installing an external panel it is important to insert the extension socket before the regulator and to use some sort of plug/socket combination that can't easily be inserted into the wrong point. Solar Panel Xpress also have several good quality mobile solar ports.
